As a researcher for the Agenda Marielle Franco, I led data collection, outreach with social movements and grassroots leaders, systematisation of findings, and the drafting of final programme proposals.
The Agenda Marielle Franco is a political advocacy, research, and communications project built collectively with human rights and environmental defenders, grassroots movements, and civil society organisations across Brazil. Inspired by the legacy of Marielle Franco, the initiative sets forth a rights-based platform to guide local-level policymaking in line with anti-racist, feminist, LGBTQIA+, and popular principles.
The agenda aims to amplify the political demands of historically marginalised communities and translate them into actionable commitments for candidates running in local elections, including city councils and mayors’ offices across Brazil.
Movements and civil society organisations from across the country were consulted through interviews, structured questionnaires, and digital outreach. Proposals were validated by experts and prioritised based on political urgency, feasibility, and direct impact on vulnerable populations.
Programmatic Axes The Agenda Marielle Franco is structured around eight key programmatic axes:
Anti-racist Policies and the Defence of Black Lives
Feminist Policies and Gender Justice
LGBTQIA+ Rights and Freedom to Exist
Territory, Housing, and the Right to the City
Demilitarisation and Public Safety for All
Education and Culture as Tools for Freedom
Climate Justice and Environmental Rights
Democracy, Political Participation, and Institutional Transparency
