Movendo Fronteiras e Tecendo Redes por Aborto Seguro (Moving Borders, Weaving Networks for Safe Abortion) was a regional gathering that brought together dozens of activists from six Latin American countries— Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Honduras, Colombia, and Mexico—working across movements and organisations for abortion rights.
I co-organised and co-facilitated the event, which involved designing the agenda, coordinating logistics, inviting speakers, managing timelines and service providers, handling participant communications, and facilitating both plenary sessions and group discussions.
The convening created space for joint analysis of the political and cultural landscape for abortion across the region. Activists had the opportunity to learn from the recent victories achieved in countries like Colombia, Mexico, and Argentina—while also reflecting on the ongoing challenges of access and implementation of legal and judicial decisions. Participants shared lessons on coalition-building, consensus-making, cross-movement partnerships, and media engagement, while also expressing and organising solidarity actions with movements facing backlash and restrictions.
Together, the group explored joint solutions to advance abortion access throughout Latin America, building a shared vision for reproductive justice grounded in regional strength and feminist solidarity.
